The NBA finalizes its 2020-21 season plans: When will the season begin?

Now after weeks of meetings and lengthy talks, the 2020-21 season schedule has been finalized between the NBA and the NBPA Players’ Union.

This year the NBA effectively conquered the COVID-19 hurricane that ended the 2019-20 season, earned great success from the “NBA Bubble” and honoured the Los Angeles Lakers champion.

Today, after weeks of intensive meetings and discussions, the second biggest obstacle for 2020 is about to be overcome, which is to close the NBA 2020-21 season schedule.

Accordingly, an understanding has been reached between the NBA and the NBPA players union

Since closing the opening date of the new season on 22 December, the two sides decided at the Regular Season that each team would play 72 matches.

In addition, the NBA Draft will take place on 18 November, the free football market will open on 20 November and the rally for the new season will commence on 1 December.

Below are the detailed schedules released by the NBA to 30 teams for the 2020-21 season:

11/16/2020: Teams are permitted to swap players;

11/18/2020: Draft 2020 of the NBA

11/202020: opening of the open soccer market (NBA Free Agency)

1 December 2020: begin joining the army before the new season (Training Camp)

December 11-December 19: Pre-season friendly match series (pre-season).

22 December 2020: NBA 2020-21 opening day, launch of step 1

5-10 March, 2021: All-Star Holiday

11 March-16 May 2021: Step 2

May 18-21, 2021: Play-in series to resolve the last 2 play-offs for each domain *

May 22-July 22: round-time playoffs

After the popularity of the “NBA Bubble” play-in series last season, the organizers of the tournament agreed to maintain this form of competition by picking the last 2 play-off tickets in each domain.

For the 7th and 8th place teams, they will play a game known as the “7-8 match.” Whoever wins will receive the Playoffs ticket first.

With the 9th and 10th place teams, they’re going to play the so-called “9-10 match” .
